英語講師インタビューPart2

こんにちは！TELACO英語教室です。
TELACOの先生ってどんな人？という疑問におこたえし、講師を紹介する講師インタビューのPart2！

今回紹介するのは、Matthew（マッシュ）先生。
元気いっぱいなレッスンで、子どもたちからも人気の先生です。

-Tell us about your typical class flow and the atmosphere you try to create each lesson.
（TELACOのクラスはどんな雰囲気ですか？）

Typical class flow starts with a short review quiz and ends with students learning the fundamental targets of the class. Activities range from TPR, games, lectures with the board, phonics practice, and student to student practice. The class atmosphere tends to be fun but orderly. Classes tend to be relaxed, funny, and productive with understandable goals to be met by each student.

レッスンは短い復習クイズで始まり、その日のレッスン内の目標を意識した学びで終わります。活動はTPR（全身反応教授法）からホワイトボードを使用してのレクチャー、フォニックスの練習、そして、生徒同士で行う実践まで、さまざまです。クラスの雰囲気は楽しく、同時に規律を保って行うようにしています。各生徒がそれぞれ無理なく達成できる目標をもとに、楽しくリラックスした、実りの多いクラスづくりを心がけています。

 

-As a teacher, what is the most important, or what do you care most about when conducting a lesson?
（先生がレッスンを進める中で、最も大切にしていること、心がけていることはなんですか？）

It is important to have a clear and achievable target that students can reach before the class ends. Creativity provides joy in learning, so creative lessons help students stay engaged in the lesson. And lastly is balance. Guiding the students to the end target with the right combination or focused learning and good fun is the most important goal of a teacher.

重要なのは、レッスンが終了するまでに生徒が達成可能な、はっきりした目標を持つことです。創造性は学びの中に楽しみをもたらします。創造的なレッスンにより、生徒は集中して課題に取り組むことができます。また、バランスも大切です。集中的な学びと良質の楽しみという、この２つの適切な組み合わせレッスンで生徒を最終目標に導くことが講師にとって最も重要なことだと考えています。

-What would you consider an ideal lesson?
（先生にとって理想のレッスンとは？）

An ideal lesson will be one that follows the lesson flow and allows the students to gain some good confidence with the lesson targets. As my colleague said, every student is different, so it is important to know your students and conduct a lesson that allows all students to participate by incorporating different learning styles. I encourage all students to not only participate, but to be proud of their achievements in the class. When all students are engaged in bettering themselves, the target goals of the lesson will be easily acquired.

理想のレッスンとは、きちんとしたフローに沿ったレッスンにより、生徒に、目標に対して自信を得られる機会をつくってあげることです。同僚とも常々話しているのですが、すべての生徒がそれぞれ違った個性を持っているため、生徒のことをよく知り、すべての生徒が参加できるよう、それぞれ違った学びスタイルのレッスンを取り入れ、進めることが大切だと考えます。クラス内で私はすべての生徒に、参加するだけでなく、達成したことに誇りを持つよう励ましています。生徒全員が自分を向上させようという姿勢で学べば、レッスンの目標はやさしく達成できるものでないかと思います。

-6 months have passed, what changes and improvements have you observed in your students?
（レッスン開始から半年経って感じた子どもたちの成長・変化はなんですか？）

All students understand what is expected of them in the lesson. They know they can have fun, speak English, be playful, while at the same time respect and look forward to the flow and system of the lessons. In addition to building a better vocabulary, students are much better at producing English sounds with good clarity, have improved their listening skills, and for some, reading has also improved.

生徒はみなさん、レッスン内で求められるものが何かを理解してくれています。楽しんだり、英語を話したり、遊び心を見せたりしながら、一方でレッスンの流れやシステムにも敬意を払い、次は何だろうと、わくわくしてくれます。より語彙が増えていることに加え、以前よりずっとはっきり英語の発音をすることができ、リスニングスキルも向上し、リーディングもどんどん上達しています。

各レッスンごとに「目標」をしっかり持ち、目標に向かって頑張ること、
目標を達成する喜びを得ることで、確実に実力はついていくのですね。
